Accounts Assistant

The Business
This role sits within Streets Chartered Accountants, a well-established and growing UK-based professional services group. Streets has expanded significantly in recent years through both organic growth and acquisitions, building a strong national presence and a diverse client base. You will be joining a smaller, close-knit team within the group that focuses on delivering a high-quality, personal service to a portfolio of primarily owner-managed businesses.

Clients range from small start-ups through to established, multi-million-pound entities across a variety of sectors. The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the team on a fully remote basis from South Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a more junior candidate looking to build a long-term career within a UK accountancy practice.

The role will predominantly focus on accounts preparation and corporation tax work, with some exposure to bookkeeping and VAT, providing strong all-round development. Given the current team structure is relatively senior-heavy, there is a genuine focus on training, mentorship, and developing junior talent.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for a range of owner-managed clients

Supporting the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns

Working across a varied client base, from small businesses to multi-million-pound entities

Assisting with bookkeeping tasks where required

Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns

Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with client queries

Liaising with senior team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of work

Requirements
Some experience within an accountancy practice (UK exposure beneficial)

Exposure to accounts preparation and/or corporation tax

Basic understanding of bookkeeping and VAT

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
