Position: Adjunct, MSN, Nursing Informatics (Online)
Position Summary:

Saint Thomas University’s College of Nursing seeks qualified applicants for the position of Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Nursing Informatics program. Adjunct faculty are responsible for the delivery of high-quality graduate nursing education consistent with the University's mission, the College of Nursing's outcomes, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation standards.

This appointment is online-only and focused on didactic and applied coursework in nursing informatics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty members are expected to fulfill instructional responsibilities consistent with Saint Thomas University Faculty Handbook expectations and CCNE accreditation requirements, including but not limited to:

Deliver online graduate-level nursing informatics courses as assigned

Implement approved course syllabi and learning outcomes aligned with:

AACN Essentials (2021)
MSN Program Outcomes

CCNE accreditation standards

Facilitate student learning through:

Asynchronous online discussions

Case-based learning

Applied informatics assignments

Evidence-based projects

Evaluate student performance using established grading rubrics and assessment tools

Provide timely, substantive feedback to support student progression and achievement of outcomes

Maintain accurate academic and attendance records in the University’s learning management system

Communicate regularly with students, course coordinators, and program leadership

Adhere to all University policies, FERPA regulations, and College of Nursing procedures

Participate in required faculty orientation, meetings, and training related to online instruction and accreditation

Required Qualifications:

Earned Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Nursing Informatics or a closely related field

Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. jurisdiction

Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in nursing informatics, clinical informatics, health information systems, data analytics, or healthcare technology

Demonstrated competence with electronic health records (EHRs), clinical data systems, and informatics applications

Ability to teach effectively in an online learning environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, EdD) in Nursing, Informatics, or a related discipline

Prior teaching experience in graduate nursing education

Informatics certification (e.g., ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification)

Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
Engagement in scholarly, quality improvement, or informatics leadership activities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of informatics theory, healthcare technology, and data-driven decision-making

Ability to integrate theory into applied nursing informatics practice

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Commitment to academic integrity, ethical practice, and student success

Ability to work collaboratively within an academic team Other Requirements Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills

Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with interdisciplinary members

Excellent analytic skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies

Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice, and policy

Workload and Compensation Course-based adjunct appointment

Teaching assignments vary by semester and program need Compensation is determined per course and commensurate with qualifications
