ABOUT BESTOW

Life insurance is one of the world's most important products. It's also one of the hardest to build, distribute, and modernize. Bestow exists to change that.

Bestow is a leading vertical technology platform serving some of the largest and most innovative life insurers. Our platform unifies the fragmented, legacy value chain, enabling carriers to launch products in weeks instead of years. Carriers choose us to scale and operate at unprecedented speed, powered by AI and automation.

Bestow isn't selling policies. We're building the infrastructure that helps an entire industry move faster, reach more people, and deliver on its promise.

Backed by leading investors (Goldman Sachs, Hedosophia, NEA, Valar, 8VC) and trusted by major carriers, Bestow is powered by a team that moves with precision, purpose, and heart. If you want to help reimagine a centuries-old industry with lasting impact, join us.

Bestow offers flexible remote/hybrid work, meaningful benefits, equity, and substantial growth opportunities.

Bestow participates in the E-Verify Program.

ABOUT THE TEAM

We are hiring an AI-Native Quality Engineer to help establish the future of our software validation and verification capabilities in the age of AI.

This role is designed for an early-career engineer with strong experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning workflows, or modern automation tooling who wants to apply those skills to one of the hardest unsolved problems in all of software engineering: turning product intent into trustworthy, testable, verifiable system behavior.

You will work at the intersection of application engineering, product development, and applied AI to help translate ideas into structured specifications, executable examples, and scalable validation systems. Along the way, you will learn modern Quality Engineering disciplines such as Definition of Ready, Example Mapping, Specification by Example, and behavior-focused acceptance criteria – while helping us explore how AI can transform those practices.

This role is a discipline-building apprenticeship with meaningful technical ownership from day one and mentorship from senior engineering leaders shaping next-generation specification-driven delivery systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Software teams now build faster than ever–but confidence still depends on how clearly behavior is defined, validated, and verified.

We are investing in a new generation of engineers who can combine:

AI-native thinking

structured system reasoning

specification clarity

automation fluency

validation and verification disciplines

to help modernize how software organizations measure correctness and readiness.

You will help shape the future here.

Automation & Verification Engineering (~30%)

Contribute to API verification using REST testing tools and schema-based checks

Help translate structured examples into executable verification artifacts

Support UI and integration automation aligned with documented behavior

Assist with test data setup and environment readiness

Contribute to CI/CD verification workflows

Analyze unexpected behavior discovered during automated execution

Improve signal quality from automated feedback loops

Specification & Behavioral Clarity (~30%)

Support structured refinement activities that make software behavior explicit before implementation begins

Participate in Example Mapping and specification workshops with engineers and product managers

Translate feature ideas into structured scenarios and acceptance criteria

Capture assumptions, edge cases, and behavioral expectations early in development

Help create reusable specification templates and example libraries

Apply AI-assisted workflows to improve requirements clarity and consistency

Identify ambiguity before it becomes rework

AI-Enabled Quality Engineering Exploration (~40%)

Prototype AI-assisted approaches to specification generation

Experiment with prompt-driven verification workflows

Explore semantic regression detection techniques

Evaluate machine-interpretable documentation strategies

Integrate AI-assisted tooling into requirements and specifications, test generation, maintenance, failure analysis, and reporting workflows

Help identify innovative opportunities to improve engineering confidence using modern AI tooling

WHO YOU ARE

  • Recent college graduate or early career experience in software engineering, AI/ML workflows, or applied automation

Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or another modern programming language

Hands-on experience working with APIs or modern web systems

Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, prompt engineering, or evaluation workflows

Ability to reason about system behavior through structured examples

    Strong written communication skills

Curiosity about how complex systems behave under changing conditions

Interest in learning modern validation and verification disciplines

    Preferred Experience

    LLM experimentation or prompt engineering

    Evaluation harnesses or benchmarking workflows

    JSON schema or OpenAPI

    Test automation frameworks

    CI/CD pipelines

    Containerized environments

    Semantic search or embeddings workflows

Agent pipelines or structured output systems

    Behavior-driven development practices

Preference for candidates that submit a link to their GitHub Repository

    WHY THIS ROLE IS UNIQUE

You will help establish the future of our software validation and verification capabilities in the age of AI.

You will work on real product behavior – not synthetic exercises.

You will collaborate directly with senior engineers to shape next-generation Quality Engineering practices.

You will help explore how artificial intelligence changes the way software correctness is defined and measured.

You will grow into a rare engineering discipline at the intersection of AI and other disciplines:

    specifications

    automation

    systems behavior

    verification science
