AI System Engineer

Remote, USA
Posted Jun 12, 2026
Full-time

We're looking for a hands-on builder to join HYPE's AI Unit as an AI System Engineer. While our AI transformation strategy is set, we need someone who loves rolling up their sleeves and making things work. You'll spend your days building agents, workflows, systems, connecting APIs, testing automation solutions, and turning ideas into working systems.

This is NOT a strategy role - it's for someone who gets excited about troubleshooting webhook errors at 10pm and celebrates when a complex workflow finally runs perfectly.

TLDR About Hype

  • Hype is the leading agency in onchain marketing, founded in 2017

Work with leading projects in the Web3 space

Fully-remote, flexible hours, team of 110+ people

Competitive salary and future bonus opportunities

Who we’ve worked with:

What You'll Actually Do Day-to-Day

  • Build automation workflows from scratch - everything from simple Slack notifications to complex multi-step & multi-agent automations with AI agents

Design and implement AI systems - Build RAG pipelines, optimize prompts, create agent workflows

Connect tools and APIs - Make Airtable talk to Claude, sync Notion with internal databases, create custom webhooks

A/B test automation solutions - Build multiple versions of workflows to see what performs better

Evaluate new AI tools weekly - Test emerging platforms and make recommendations on what to adopt or skip

Debug and troubleshoot - Figure out why that webhook isn't firing or why the AI agent is returning weird responses

Document everything - Create clear documentation so others can understand and maintain what you've built

Optimize existing workflows - Take our MVP automations and make them production-ready

Stay ahead of the curve - Dedicate time each week to exploring new AI developments and tools

Perks and Benefits

  • Fully Remote: Work from anywhere! We just ask that you overlap at least half a day with EU and US time zones — otherwise, your schedule is yours to manage

Diverse Projects: No monotony here! You'll work with a variety of clients across Web3, keeping things fresh and expanding your network

✈️ Travel Budget: Get support for work-related travel when needed

25 Days PTO: Recharge with 25 paid days off per year

Bull Run Bonus: Because when the market pumps, so should you

Requirements

The Technical Skills You Need

Must-Haves:

  • Automation expertise - You've built complex workflows and know your way around expressions, error handling, and custom functions

API integration experience - REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth flows should be second nature

Basic coding skills - JavaScript for custom n8n nodes, Python for data processing

    Deep AI/LLM understanding:

Prompt engineering and context window optimization

RAG systems and vector database implementation (Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB)

Understanding of embeddings, semantic search, and retrieval strategies

Experience with different LLM APIs and their trade-offs (GPT-4, Claude, Llama, etc.)

Knowledge of agent architectures and memory systems

Tool-agnostic mindset - You understand the principles behind automation/AI tools, not just specific platforms

Problem-solving mindset - You enjoy debugging and don't give up easily

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with N8n, Make.com (Integromat), Zapier, or similar platforms

Knowledge of marketing tools (Notion, Airtable, Slack, Google Workspace)

Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks

Knowledge of agent swarms and multi-agent structures

  • Basic understanding of crypto/web3

  • Experience with alternative AI tools

  • Proficiency with AI-powered development tools(Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codeium)

Familiarity withModel Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting LLMs to tools and data sources

Who You Are

  • Builder first, talker second - You'd rather show a working prototype than make a slideshow

Principles over platforms - You understand WHY things work, not just HOW to click buttons

Constantly experimenting - Your browser has 20+ tabs open with different AI tools and documentation

Tool-agnostic - You can quickly evaluate and adapt to new platforms because you understand the underlying concepts

Detail-oriented - A misplaced comma in JSON makes you twitch

Self-directed - You can take a vague request and figure out the implementation details

Learning machine - New tools and updates excite rather than overwhelm you

Pragmatic - You know when to build custom vs. when to use existing solutions

What Success Looks Like

30 Days:

  • Built and deployed 5+ production workflows

    Documented our existing automation infrastructure

Identified and fixed bottlenecks in current systems

90 Days:

  • Reduced manual work across teams by 40+ hours/week through automation

Built and tested at least 3 different approaches for our core workflows

  • Created a library of reusable components

6 Months:

  • Own the entire automation infrastructure

  • Successfully migrated at least one major workflow to a better tool/approach

Built production RAG systems for internal knowledge management

Train team members on using the tools you've built

Proactively identify and implement new automation opportunities

Why Join HYPE's AI Unit?

  • Real impact - Your agents & automations will directly affect how 100+ people work daily

Creative freedom - We care about results, not how you achieve them

Cutting-edge tools - Full access to the latest AI APIs and automation platforms

    Remote-first - Work from anywhere, async-friendly culture

The Practical Stuff

  • Location: Remote (timezone overlap with CET preferred)

    Type: Full-time, freelance contract.

How to Apply

Skip the cover letter. Instead, send us:

  1. A link to an n8n workflow/agent you've built (JSON export or screenshots)

Your proudest automation achievement (2-3 paragraphs max)

Answer this: "Pick any repetitive task at a crypto marketing agency. Show us how you'd automate it using n8n or other tools, and explain why you chose that approach."

Bonus: Share a recent AI tool/technique you discovered and why it excited you.

    Send to: rabin@hype.partners

P.S. - If you've ever spent a weekend building a personal automation, agents, SaaS, just because you were curious if it would work, you're probably who we're looking for.

P.P.S. - This isn't just an automation role with some AI sprinkled on top. We need someone who deeply understands LLMs, can debate the merits of different embedding models, and gets genuinely excited when Anthropic releases new features. If you're already thinking "I could build a better version of this job posting using a fine-tuned model," definitely apply.

P.P.P.S. - If you know what MCP is and why it matters for the future of AI tool integration, we should definitely talk.
