Associate, Power Systems Engineer
- Support verification of facility models, system parameters, relay settings, and operational data required for reliability and compliance assessments.
- Perform power system analyses under supervision, including generator behavior, system stability, and protection-related studies.
- Assist with engineering documentation required for NERC audits, internal reviews, and evidence retention.
- Participate in grid event analysis, disturbance reviews, and reliability investigations in a supporting role.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support engineering and compliance objectives.
- Support engineering change management, including reviews of new equipment, facility upgrades, and interconnection requests.
- Assist with drafting engineering reports, technical summaries, and system diagrams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to engineering workflows, data quality, and compliance readiness.
- Support development and use of automation scripts and analytical tools to improve efficiency of reliability studies.
- Apply foundational power system engineering principles to support analysis of datacenter operations and inverter‑based resource (IBR) integration, including basic stability and control considerations.
- Support client engagements by assisting with technical analysis and preparing explanations of study results.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support accurate data collection and reporting.
- Use industry-standard tools for modeling and analysis; develop increasing proficiency in Python or similar scripting tools.
- Support regulatory communications and compliance inquiries as directed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power System) or closely related discipline.
- 3-5 years’ work experience in NERC Compliance
- Proven experience in NERC MOD standards testing and compliance.
- Strong background in generator modeling and dynamic performance validation.
- Experience using one or more power system modeling tools (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, TSAT, ETAP).
- 4-6 years actively supporting a Generator Owner compliance program.
- Experience supporting Generator Owner compliance programs.
- Familiarity with inverter‑based resources (IBRs) and renewable generation integration concepts.
- Technical knowledge of power systems operations and NERC Reliability Standards
- Additional knowledge of ERCOT, CAISO, and other ISO/RTO markets, State Public Utilities Commissions, and IA/PAA operational requirements
- Fundamentals of Engineering EIT or PE Certification obtained or in progress.
- Expertise in power system modeling and simulation tools (PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, TSAT and ETAP).
- In-depth knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and MOD compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of renewable energy incentives or policies
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time on a computer.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
