Job Summary
The Associate Technical Lighting Specialist is the entry level position of the Technical Lighting Specialist hierarchy. Employees at this entry level assist with lighting bill exceptions with general supervision.  Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental Outdoor Lighting concepts and procedures and assist with any leader TLS assignment.

This role is actively involved in record management of agreements between customers and company, including data accuracy support and validity of lighting inventory. This position is also responsible for analyzing and quantifying inefficient processes in the customer information/billing system, work management system, and contract management systems. This position typically is jurisdictionally focused but can be assigned enterprise tasks or assist with team projects.

Responsibilities
This position will provide entry level corrections to bills according to tariff and SAP billing structure for Outdoor Lighting. There will be project selection guidance, advisory training methods and techniques, ULAT coaching, review of billing complexities and billing data reports all in support of growing the outdoor lighting revenue through billing corrections.
Other responsibilities will include Repair Replacement Billing, BPEMs and other small projects surrounding billing exceptions via spreadsheets, ULAT, SAP and LCR data sets. Technical training courses will be a focus to ensure understanding of lighting products, tariff structure and SAP billing mechanisms to benefit bottom line revenue, increasing profitability and customer satisfaction.

Basic/Required Qualifications
Associates Degree in Business or other related degree
1 year minimum related work experience
In lieu of degree, A high school diploma/GED and 3 years related work experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
Working knowledge of various common platform software including office applications, work management, engineering design tools, customer billing system SAP and contract management systems.
Basic knowledge of lighting contract system
Basic knowledge of lighting products, policies and standards
Basic knowledge of different light sources and lighting equipment applications
Basic knowledge of engineering design tools
Basic knowledge of Duke Energy electric distribution system and construction
Possesses knowledge of Duke Energy accounting practices
Possesses knowledge of Duke Energy rates and tariffs
Demonstrated experience working with contracts and legal documents

Working Conditions
Normal office environment with exposure to computer monitor and prolonged sitting at workstation.
Infrequently perform field visits.
Limited overnight travel
40-hour work week with overtime as needed
Virtual Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from a remote location after the onboarding period. However, virtual employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements
Basic knowledge of outdoor lighting
Working knowledge of customer billing system SAP
Basic knowledge of work management system
Working knowledge of lighting bill structure, the lighting tariff language, compatible unit descriptions/rates and revenue structure of existing lighting products.
Demonstrated ability to interact with external and/or internal customers in a courteous and tactful manner (verbal and written)
Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated and able to work independently with limited direct supervision
Demonstrated effective planning and organizational skills
Process oriented while understanding the capabilities of technology
Demonstrated ability to convince and aspire others to be passionate about the business and lead by example
