Work you'll do

We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester Contractor to support the project team by developing and executing automated tests that ensure software quality across data and cloud-based applications. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Databricks, PySpark, AWS, and test automation within distributed data environments. The contractor will work closely with developers, QA team members, product, scrum, and technical stakeholders to improve test coverage, identify defects early, and support continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for applications and data workflows.
• Validate data pipelines, distributed systems, and big data processes in Databricks and Spark environments.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and support defect tracking and resolution.
• Collaborate with developers, QA team members, and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing practices.
• Use QMetry for test management, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Document test cases, automation frameworks, testing processes, and execution results.
• Support QA planning and ensure alignment across product, scrum, and technical teams.

Required Skills And Experience
• 6–9 years of experience in automation testing or QA engineering.
• Strong expertise in Databricks and PySpark for testing data pipelines and workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Databricks.
• Strong understanding of Spark architecture, data lakes, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience in testing data integration and validating large-scale data workflows.
• Proficiency in QMetry for test management, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.
• Working knowledge of JIRA for issue and test tracking.
• Experience with cloud-based testing on AWS.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise-scale data platforms and automation frameworks.

The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $70 - $75 per hour.  The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
