Cisco Engineer
Summary: The role of Cisco Engineer involves supporting the planning, execution, and post-upgrade validation of Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM) and Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX) platforms. This is a remote contract position that requires hands-on experience with system upgrades and strong troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate will work independently on project-based engagements in enterprise environments. Applicants must hold active SC Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and execute CUCM and UCCX upgrades in accordance with Cisco best practices
Perform pre-upgrade assessments, compatibility checks, and risk analysis
Upgrade related components including: IM & Presence, Cisco Unity Connection (if applicable), Finesse, Cisco Voice Gateways (IOS/IOS-XE)
Validate system functionality post-upgrade (call processing, contact center flows, reporting, integrations)
Coordinate upgrade activities with stakeholders, vendors, and change management teams
Perform backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to call routing, CTI, agents, and applications
Document upgrade procedures, configurations, and rollback plans
Provide knowledge transfer and post-upgrade support as required
Key Skills:

This is a remote contract role focused on system upgrades, migrations, and platform stabilization in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience upgrading CUCM and UCCX across multiple versions, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a project-based engagement.
