Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
• Working knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and reimbursement
• Working knowledge of data analysis and personal computer spreadsheet software
• Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills
• Polished presentation skills
• Well-developed written and oral communications skills

AND

One of the following:
• Graduation from an accredited RN program with recent hospital experience
• RHIA
• RHIT certification

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

One of the following:
• Licensed as an RN in the state of Alabama
• RHIA
• RHIT
• CCDS

Desired Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of coding principles and guidelines
• 2 years CDI experience

Responsibilities:

Improves overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation by performing concurrent review of the medical record to achieve accurate inpatient coding and a working DRG assignment. Provides education to physicians and others to improve the capture of clinical severity for the level of service rendered. Identifies process improvement opportunities and supports the timely and accurate capture of measurements to improve patient outcomes.
