Cloud Engineer II – Cloud Services

FoodChain ID is seeking a motivated and technically curious Cloud Engineer II to join our Cloud Services team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges, improving reliability through automation, and building scalable cloud platforms in a modern DevOps environment.

You will support and enhance cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments while partnering with development teams and senior engineers to improve infrastructure, deployment workflows, observability, and operational excellence. This role provides hands-on experience across Cloud Operations, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps, Reliability Engineering, and Platform Engineering.

This position reports to the Cloud Services Manager and is remote based.

Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport and maintain cloud infrastructure, applications, and platform services across AWS and Azure
Monitor platform health, performance, and reliability while troubleshooting infrastructure and deployment issues
Design, build, and maintain scalable Terraform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code best practices
Develop reusable Terraform modules and deployment patterns for multi-environment and multi-account architectures
Build, support, and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
Collaborate with development teams to support deployments, troubleshoot release issues, and improve operational processes
Partner with senior engineers on cloud architecture, scalability, resiliency, and modernization initiatives
Support cloud security standards, governance, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery initiatives
Improve reliability and operational efficiency through automation, monitoring, observability, and cost optimization
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge base articles
Work within issue and project tracking systems to document work and support collaboration
Participate in a shared on call rotation

Required Qualifications2+ years of experience with systems, infrastructure, or network administration
2+ years of experience operating infrastructure within AWS environments
Experience with networking, DNS, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery concepts
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices in a version-controlled environment such as Git
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Strong written communication and documentation skills
Ability to work flexible hours outside standard business hours as needed

Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience
AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Developer Associate
Experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems
Experience with Active Directory or similar identity management services
Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT
Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies
Strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth
