Cost Estimator
OCMI, Inc. is a rapidly growing construction management consultancy that emphasizes core values such as teamwork and integrity. They are seeking a Cost Estimator to join their Charlotte, NC office, where the role involves supporting the cost estimating team and contributing to the development of comprehensive cost estimates for various projects.
Responsibilities
- Aid with administrative tasks as needed, primarily a combination of data entry, updating of project deliverable dates and bid tracking within Smartsheets, which involves outreach and client interaction
- Perform quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals and support the team
- Input estimate data into the appropriate software
- Provide a detailed review of all documentation and assist with development of comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate the client’s project and strategic goals
- Assure that a quality product is presented to the client through adherence to the company’s QA/QC procedures
- Assist in the creation of cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations, at all levels of project development, as part of the internal team
- Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project’s goals (verbal, written, and graphics)
- Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining the accuracy of cost information
- Desire to learn, grow, and advance their skills in estimating and various other project controls
Skills
- Strong written, verbal communication and organizational skills
- One to three years of construction industry experience, preferably with commercial construction
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and Smartsheet preferred
- Prior working experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST), or other industry related take-off software is a plus
- Bachelor's degree, in construction, engineering, or architecture preferred; or 2 years of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree
