Who We Are

Not just built for today. Building for tomorrow.

DIRTT is a global leader in industrialized construction. Our system of physical products and digital tools empowers organizations—alongside construction and design leaders—to build high-performing, adaptable interior environments.

Operating across workplace, healthcare, education, and public sector markets, DIRTT provides total design freedom and greater certainty in cost, schedule, and outcomes.

We are a highly motivated group of individuals who embrace the company’s entrepreneurial spirit. Everyone is hands-on, regardless of role. We celebrate our successes together, work hard, have fun, and treat one another with respect.

Who You Are

The Cost Estimator is responsible for translating customer requirements, conceptual designs, and early-stage solutions into accurate, risk-informed cost models that enable confident commercial decisions. This role sits at the front end of the value chain within the Solutions Design ecosystem and plays a critical role in shaping deal quality, pricing strategy, and project viability.

The Cost Estimator partners closely with Commercial, Solutions Designers, and Project Executives to ensure that every opportunity is grounded in realistic cost assumptions, aligned to product capability, and reflective of operational constraints.

What You’ll Do

Cost Modeling & Estimate Development

Develop detailed cost estimates based on conceptual designs, specifications, and customer requirements

Translate design intent into material, labor, and complexity-based cost structures

Build and maintain standardized costing models for repeatable solutions

Ensure estimates reflect current pricing, production capabilities, and supply chain realities

Commercial Decision Support

Partner with Project Executives and Solutions Designers to support bid strategy and pricing decisions

Provide scenario modeling (e.g., value engineering options, scope adjustments, alternates)

Quantify cost impacts of design changes in real time during the pursuit phase

Support margin analysis and alignment with target financial outcomes

Risk Identification & Quantification

Identify cost, scope, and execution risks early in the opportunity lifecycle

Apply risk factors or contingencies based on project complexity and uncertainty

Flag gaps in design definition or assumptions that may impact downstream execution

Contribute to opportunity risk scoring in partnership with Project Management

Cross-Functional Alignment

Collaborate with Design and Order Engineering to validate assumptions

Ensure alignment between estimated scope and what can be executed operationally

Support handoff into Order Engineering with clear documentation of assumptions and inclusions

Participate in design reviews to ensure cost discipline is maintained

Data Integrity & Continuous Improvement

Maintain estimate accuracy tracking (estimated vs. actual cost performance)

Continuously refine cost models based on historical project data and lessons learned

Identify cost drivers and opportunities to reduce solution variability and improve predictability

Contribute to standardization of assemblies, kits, and product configurations

Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)

Estimate Accuracy: High correlation between estimated and actual project costs

Margin Integrity: Projects are sold within target margin ranges with minimal erosion

Risk Visibility: Key risks are identified and quantified before project award/contract

Cycle Time: Estimates delivered quickly enough to support competitive pursuits

Downstream Stability: Minimal cost-related surprises during Order Engineering and Manufacturing
