The team

Join our corporate governance legal team working on matters such as corporate governance, board management, and international corporate structuring, compliance and licensing to further Kraken's mission.

The opportunity

  • Lead legal work for domestic and international corporate governance, regulatory compliance, international registrations, and management of subsidiary entities

    Collaborate closely with business executives and colleagues in the legal, tax, HR, treasury, and finance departments on domestic and international corporate governance, corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, and related securities matters

    Contribute to a growing corporate legal team that is building out org structure, playbooks, and processes

    Review and collaborate with compliance professionals on AML, KYC/UBO compliance, and other regulatory aspects

    Provide support for corporate development activities, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic corporate partnership

    Provide creative, innovative, and effective legal solutions for business stakeholders

Skills you should HODL

  • 3+ years of dedicated corporate legal experience supporting boards and board governance, including advising on statutory obligations, board composition, meeting management, and governance best practices

    6+ years of overall relevant experience in corporate law, to include a blend of in-house and law firm, plus relevant experience in a regulated industry/context with substantial exposure to or experience in a high-growth technology company

    JD from a well regarded law school and membership (in good standing) in a US state bar

    Interest in the crypto industry / what our company is offering to the world and why

    Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills

    Excellent project management, negotiation, drafting, and time management skills

    Honed executive communication skills

    Excellent business judgment, analytic rigor, and legal pragmatism

    Mindset that is team-oriented, plus proactive and entrepreneurial: an opportunity-making person who uses the law to increase the company's optionality, not decrease it

    Nice to haves

    • Experience with subsidiary governance, particularly across international or multi-jurisdictional structures

      Experience supporting subsidiaries in highly regulated industries — particularly banking, payments, crypto, or fintech — is a strong plus

      Experience interacting with domestic and international regulators

      Experience with regulated financial services firms more broadly

      Experience both in-house and at a law firm
