Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. The person who fills this role will design and develop scalable and efficient cloud-based data systems to process large volumes of brain data, supporting model development, deep research, and scientific discovery, resulting in real-world impact on patients with physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build databases for massive-scale storage of heterogeneous and high-dimensional data and metadata

    Design and develop systems for high-throughput data ingestion, pipelining, curation, and quality assessments

    Characterize data throughput, efficiency, compressibility, and performance

    Provide observability, monitoring, and logging for data pathways

    Work collaboratively within a small team to integrate data platforms with research and product use cases

    Ensure compliance with medical software standards and regulations.

    Follow coding best practices to create and maintain reproducible, clear, and highly documented code.

    Role Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant quantitative field

      A minimum of 4 years of industry experience building solutions to manage large/massive datasets at scale

      Experience working with distributed-data tools (e.g. Spark/Databricks, Delta Lake) and data formats (e.g. Apache Parquet, hdf5, relational data)

      Proficiency in Python and SQL

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Familiarity with medical sensor data, time series data, and/or brain data.

        Practical knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.

        Expertise in production-quality Python for backend systems.

        Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and related technologies

        Experience working with Azure platforms

        Experience working on medical or clinical applications

        Experience developing data solutions for foundation modeling
