As the company scales, they want the Design function to operate with more consistency and measurable impact — grounded in data, research, and a strong operating system.</p><p></p><h2>The role</h2><p>InvestEngine is looking for a Design Team Lead to run the day-to-day operation of the Design function and raise the bar on how the team works. This is a leadership role where your output is the team’s output.</p><p>You’ll partner closely with business stakeholders to ensure work is well-scoped, prioritised, and delivered predictably.

A major part of the role is building a scalable system: goals, operating cadence, quality gates, and a practical approach to AI/tooling that improves speed and consistency.</p><p></p><h2>What you’ll be responsible for</h2><ul><li><p>Lead and develop a team of designers (hiring, performance management, coaching, 1:1 cadence)</p></li><li><p>Establish a reliable operating model: intake, prioritisation, SLAs, delivery tracking, and stakeholder satisfaction</p></li><li><p>Embed data-driven design practices: hypotheses, measurement plans, UX metrics baselines, and journey analytics</p></li><li><p>Make research and usability testing part of routine decision-making (using existing tools and processes)</p></li><li><p>Govern quality via standards and review gates; improve clarity of customer-facing language in a regulated context</p></li><li><p>Drive adoption and scaling of the design system across design and engineering (documentation, reuse, handoff quality)</p></li><li><p>Introduce and operationalise AI/tooling across the team (clear use cases, adoption, measurable impact)</p><p></p></li></ul><h2>What we’re looking for</h2><ul><li><p>Experience leading and developing designers in a product environment (people management + hiring)</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical approach to design: comfortable with metrics, experiments, and evidence-based decisions</p></li><li><p>Ability to set up team-level processes that improve quality and predictability</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication (written and spoken English) and stakeholder management</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of what good design looks like in complex, regulated products (fintech experience is a plus)</p></li><li><p>Practical experience integrating AI/tools into workflows (beyond ad hoc experimentation)</p></li></ul><h2>Nice to have</h2><ul><li><p>UK regulated fintech / consumer duty experience</p></li><li><p>Experience running design systems adoption with engineering</p></li><li><p>Experience building research/UX analytics practice inside a product team</p><p></p></li></ul><h2>What you get</h2><ul><li><p>A key leadership role in a high-growth fintech where design is a strategic differentiator</p></li><li><p>Ownership to build a measurable, scalable design function (systems, process, culture)</p></li><li><p>A team and leadership group that actively experiments with AI and modern tooling</p></li></ul>
