DevSecOps Engineer - Part-time
Overview
We are seeking a mid-level DevSecOps Engineer to support secure cloud deployments and infrastructure automation efforts for a public sector initiative. This is a part-time consulting role (approximately 20 hours per week) focused on implementing and maintaining modern DevSecOps practices, with an emphasis on infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and secure AWS environments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on practitioner with experience building and managing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines in regulated environments, and who can effectively contribute in a flexible, part-time capacity.
Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens and be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CDK and/or Terraform
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated, secure deployments
Develop and manage containerized applications and deployment workflows
Implement and maintain DevSecOps best practices, integrating security into all stages of the development lifecycle
Configure and manage AWS security services to ensure compliance and protection of cloud environments
Support environments aligned with FedRAMP standards and tooling
Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment processes and improve system reliability
Utilize tools such as GitHub for source control and workflow automation
Support orchestration and workflow management using tools like Temporal (or similar frameworks)
Document infrastructure, deployment processes, and security controls
Qualifications
3–5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, or cloud engineering roles
Strong experience with:
Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform)
CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
Container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes or equivalents)
AWS cloud services, particularly security-focused services
Familiarity with GitHub for version control and automation workflows
Understanding of secure software development and deployment practices
Ability to work effectively in a part-time consulting engagement (~20 hours/week)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting FedRAMP-compliant environments or other regulated systems
Familiarity with automation/orchestration frameworks such as Temporal
Knowledge of cloud security architectures and compliance frameworks
Experience working with public sector or government clients
Exposure to monitoring, logging, and incident response tools
