Role Summary
The Precision Medicine Director is a senior-level leader responsible for the design, execution, and scaling of precision medicine programs across The US Oncology Network. This role focuses on integrating analytics, clinical strategy, technology, and operational workflows to enable high-quality, data-driven patient care.

This position requires strong program ownership, cross-functional execution, and the ability to translate complex clinical and analytics insights into scalable, operationalized solutions that improve testing adoption, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes.

As a senior leader, the Precision Medicine Director is accountable for end-to-end program development and execution—from concept through pilot, implementation, and scale. The role requires the ability to lead multi-phase, cross-functional initiatives and deliver measurable clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration skills, executive communication capabilities, and the ability to independently manage complex initiatives in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Strategy & Execution
Lead the design, launch, and scaling of precision medicine programs aligned to enterprise and network priorities

Own the full program lifecycle, including concept development, pilot design, implementation, measurement, and scale

Deliver measurable outcomes tied to adoption, quality, and performance improvement

Analytics & Data-Driven Program Development
Define, validate, and operationalize precision medicine KPIs, datasets, and dashboards

Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure clinical accuracy of analytics, including value-based care measures and external research initiatives

Translate analytics insights into actionable strategies that drive provider behavior, testing adoption, and clinical decision-making

Vendor & Lab Strategy Execution
Execute structured vendor performance management processes, including biannual business reviews

Define and standardize performance metrics across laboratory partners

Synthesize vendor insights to inform testing strategy, contracting decisions, and practice engagement approaches

Partner with cross-functional teams to align lab strategy, testing pathways, and data integration priorities

Workflow Design & Practice Implementation
Document and standardize end-to-end precision medicine workflows (diagnosis through treatment)

Conduct practice-level assessments to identify workflow gaps, variation, and opportunities for improvement

Develop and deploy scalable workflow playbooks and best practice models

Support practice adoption and optimization of precision medicine workflows

Program Pilots & Innovation
Design and execute pilot programs, including workflow optimization pilots, and new service delivery models

Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across legal, IT, procurement, and external partners

Define success metrics for pilots and evaluate outcomes to inform decisions on scale and broader deployment

Clinical Standardization & Test Strategy
Support development and deployment of precision medicine test compendia and testing pathways

Partner with clinical leaders and governance bodies to define evidence-based, operationally feasible testing strategies

Align clinical guidelines with operational workflows and technology capabilities

Education, Adoption & Practice Enablement
Develop and deploy precision medicine education programs, including onboarding resources, toolkits, and learning materials

Ensure education efforts are aligned to measurable outcomes, including increased testing rates and workflow adoption

Track utilization and effectiveness of education resources and refine content based on engagement and impact

Practice Engagement & Support
Provide structured support to practices, including intake, tracking, and analysis of precision medicine-related requests

Identify recurring themes, gaps, and opportunities from practice engagement

Translate practice-level insights into program improvements and enterprise priorities

Serve as a key interface between practices and the central precision medicine program

Governance & Advisory Leadership
Support and operationalize precision medicine governance structures

Facilitate cross-functional discussions and drive alignment on strategic and operational decisions

Ensure transparency, accountability, and follow-through on key initiatives

Technology Evaluation & Implementation
Evaluate and recommend precision medicine technologies, tools, and vendors aligned with enterprise strategy

Partner with IT, analytics, and operational teams to prioritize and implement high-impact solutions

Ensure solutions are scalable, practical, and aligned with clinical and operational needs

Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field required

Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or MBA) preferred

Critical Skills
Significant experience in oncology, precision medicine, healthcare analytics, or related fields

Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex, cross-functional programs

Proven track record of translating strategy into measurable outcomes

Additional Knowledge & Skills
Strong strategic thinking combined with operational execution capability

Ability to translate clinical, data, and operational insights into scalable programs

Deep knowledge of precision medicine, biomarker testing, and targeted therapy landscape

Experience with analytics, dashboards, or performance measurement frameworks

Ability to influence and communicate effectively with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments

Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across diverse stakeholder groups

Travel Requirements
Travel up to 25% to support practice engagement and program implementation

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$145,700 - $242,900
