Job Description:
DS Comm Lead (Communication Equipment Location)

The DS Comm Lead evaluates, designs, and oversees telecommunications rooms (MDF/IDF/CELs), including racks, bonding/grounding, electrical, cooling, cable pathways, and compliance with AF/SF and UFC standards. This role manages GDIT, Agency, and Subcontractor teams performing site surveys, rack builds, grounding, cabling, electrical, and network equipment installations.

Primary Responsibilities
Conduct on‑site surveys documenting power, cooling, bonding/grounding, pathways, and room readiness

Develop layout designs including rack plans, cable management, grounding/bonding, electrical circuits, and equipment placement

Manage GDIT, Agency, and Subcontractor labor performing room buildouts, rack installation, cable routing, and grounding

Ensure compliance with UFC, TIA/EIA, I3A, and DoD telecommunications room standards

Coordinate with base civil engineering for facility upgrades or modifications

Support QA inspections and validation of deliverables and as‑builts

Work closely with Network, Fiber Optic, ISP, and OSP teams for integration of infrastructure

Participate in design reviews and customer briefings as a SME

Required Experience
BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience

4–7 years experience with telecommunications rooms, data center buildouts, or ISP infrastructure

Experience managing cabling, rack installation, or structured cabling teams

Knowledge of grounding/bonding, power specs, equipment standards, and room environmental requirements

Experience with AFCENT, AFNET, or equivalent DoW telecom environments (preferred)

Secret Security Clearance

Hiring location will be remote but will require extensive travel. Working locations will vary but will be located on site at Air Force/Space Force Bases around the world.

Preferred Experience
Experience designing or upgrading MDF/IDF spaces

Experience reading and producing telecom room drawings

Certifications (Preferred)
BICSI Technician, Installer 2, or RCDD

Security+ CE (DoD 8570 requirement)

FOA CFOT (beneficial for fiber termination work)

The likely salary range for this position is $111,155 - $150,385. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
