The Entry-Level Civil/Roadway Engineer will support roadway and transportation design efforts for high-profile projects, gaining valuable training and mentorship to develop skills necessary for a Professional Engineering license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks through effective mentorship
  • Work within the Highway group on the design of civil engineering projects, including local roadways, rural and urban highways, and freeways
  • Collaborate with design teams consisting of multidisciplinary design engineers and technicians
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member and assist with tasks including preparing engineering-related calculations, drawings, and visual aids
  • Assist Project Team by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, and civil engineering design projects
  • Builds analytic and design skills
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision

Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
  • AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS experience
  • Experience designing highway/roadway and storm drainage systems preferred
  • Experience in designing traffic signal installations
