Why This Role Matters

As an Entry‑Level Data Engineer on the arenaflex Data Lake team, you will help construct and operate massive data pipelines that power analytics, machine learning, and real‑time decision making for hundreds of internal customers. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with large‑scale data architecture, cloud infrastructure, and cross‑functional collaboration—all while contributing to the core data foundation that enables arenaflex’s visionary products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior data engineers to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store petabytes of structured and unstructured data across multi‑cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Implement best‑in‑class ETL processes, ensuring data quality, reliability, and compliance with security standards.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and scripts in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) to support data extraction, loading, and analytics.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Maintain and monitor data pipelines using orchestration tools, ensuring high availability and rapid incident response.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of data storage solutions, including relational databases, columnar stores, and NoSQL systems.
  • Contribute to metadata management, data lineage tracking, and documentation to promote transparency and reusability.
  • Support data visualization initiatives by preparing clean, well‑structured datasets for reporting tools.
  • Continuously explore emerging technologies and propose improvements to enhance performance, cost‑efficiency, and scalability.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience with data engineering concepts, including data modeling, ETL, and pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) and strong SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with data storage technologies such as relational databases, columnar warehouses, and NoSQL stores.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (arenaflex, arenaflex, or similar) and using cloud‑native services for storage, compute, and orchestration.
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities, a proactive mindset, and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.
  • Hands‑on experience with orchestration platforms such as arenaflex, arenaflex, or arenaflex.
  • Exposure to containerization technologies (arenaflex, arenaflex) and orchestration frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools (arenaflex, arenaflex, arenaflex, arenaflex).
  • Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience with large‑scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink) and streaming architectures.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise elegant, efficient solutions.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working with cross‑functional teams, translating technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
