GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is currently seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist in their Springfield, MA office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects including site investigation, environmental compliance, and design and implementation of remedial systems, while being supervised by project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks such as soil / groundwater /air / surface water / soil gas sampling, site reconnaissance, surveying, construction oversight, drilling and test pit excavation oversight, soil sampling and monitoring well installation oversight, etc
  • Work on all phases of projects (due diligence, site investigation, field work, data evaluation, regulatory permitting, engineering analysis, construction and/or implementation management and documentation, and any close-out monitoring)
  • Monitoring and documenting various aspects of construction projects
  • Conducting technical analyses/calculations
  • Interpreting various site-specific data to make conclusions and/or recommendations
  • Regulatory permitting and reporting
  • Performing analysis of subsurface data
  • Writing drafts of field and environmental reports
  • Preparing cost/quantity estimates
  • GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental/Geological Engineering, Geology or Science
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
  • Ability to follow direction, and work independently or in a team setting
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry and move equipment and supplies
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally
  • A valid driver's license in good standing and a reliable vehicle
  • 1+ year of related environmental experience in the fields of site investigation, remediation, environmental compliance, due diligence
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, including 8-hour annual refresher certificates
