Navigation Residency - Algorithms
The SandboxAQ Quantum Navigation team is pioneering state-of-the-art solutions for GPS-free navigation using the Earth's magnetic field. We are looking for a highly motivated Navigation Resident to join our dynamic team and work on projects related to state estimation, navigation filters, and software development. As a successful candidate, you will collaborate closely with our scientists and engineers, leveraging your strong critical thinking skills and foundation in statistics and software development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on projects in state estimation, navigation filters, and software development
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop and implement innovative solutions
- Apply critical thinking and research skills to drive project success
- Develop and maintain software using languages such as Python, C++, and CUDA
- Utilize CI/CD best practices and tools like Git
- Communicate complex ideas and findings through scientific writing
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you should:
- Be currently enrolled in a STEM PhD or Master's Degree program (Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, Mechanical Engineering, Navigation, Robotics, or Autonomy, or similar field)
- Have a strong foundation in state estimation, statistics, and software development
- Be proficient in Python
- Have experience with Kalman Filters and its derivatives
- Have knowledge of magnetic navigation (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience with software development, especially in Python, C++, and CUDA
- Familiarity with CI/CD best practices and tools like Git
- Strong critical thinking and research skills
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience in scientific writing
