**Job Summary**
We're seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative I to join our team at arenaflex's Light & Water Department – Consumer Services Division. As a Customer Service Representative I, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing payments, and resolving billing-related issues. You will work closely with our customers, field staff, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and efficient service delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Answer customer questions and resolve complaints and problems related to the utility billing process
* Receive payments for City services such as water and power
* Process appropriate forms/records, including posting payments to accounts and computing water and power bills for opening and closing accounts
* Prepare forms for field and office staff on changes of service and input data into computer systems
* Calculate special bills according to established procedures and assemble information regarding delinquent accounts
* Make special arrangements for payment of utility billings for hardship cases within specific guidelines or refer to collection agency
* Balance daily receipts to moneys received and prepare revenue summary sheets
* Issue refund checks and research records to correct errors in billings
* Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including composing correspondence to customers, sorting and distributing mail, preparing bills for mail outs, serving as cashier, and preparing and entering a variety of data and information
* Use radio to dispatch field personnel for routine and emergency service calls
* Assist others involved in related activity and assist in training personnel on the utility billing process
**Essential Qualifications**
* Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
* Experience: Six months experience in administrative support, billing, clerical accounting, and customer service
* Licenses or Certification: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience working in a utility billing or customer service environment
* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
* Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office and utility billing systems

* Competitive salary range: $58.74 - $71.40 Hourly, $4,539.63 - $5,517.95 Monthly, $122,181.48 - $148,512.36 Annually
