Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of enterprise servers, cabling infrastructure, and other data center equipment. You will work closely with our internal teams to ensure seamless operations, resolve technical issues, and implement new projects. Key Responsibilities
- Equipment installation and configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
- Hardware Break/Fix replacement of Field Replaceable Units (FRUs).
- Rack installation, including placing racks, cabling, powering up, and handing off servers to internal provisioning teams.
- Troubleshooting and resolving Telco Availability issues.
- Investigating and replacing Network Switch hardware.
- Communicating within a ticketing environment used and governed by various internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
- Documenting activities and building/modifying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Organized cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom links.
- Infrastructure power supplies and cabling installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Executing small projects independently and working with your manager to plan and execute larger local projects.
Essential Qualifications
- Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
- Strong interest in learning new data center concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Shift schedule (4 days a week, 10-hour shifts), including weekends and holidays.
- 3 years of experience working in an IT environment.
- Experience troubleshooting issues on servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
- Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and delivering server parts.
- Experience receiving on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
- Experience escalating issues to Sr. on-site staff and management on a case-by-case basis.
- IT Equipment Concepts knowledge (Rack, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB).
- Knowledge of trunking infrastructure is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year or 4-year degree or 3 years of experience.
- 1 year of experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber, testing of cables, Cooling and Electrical systems concepts within the data center.
