Experienced Math Tutor - USU Tooele Campus: Collaborative Learning Support for General Algebra and Mathematics Courses

We are seeking an experienced Math Tutor to join our team at the USU Tooele Campus. As a Math Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students taking general Algebra and Mathematics courses, providing them with the guidance and confidence they need to succeed.
About the Role
As a Math Tutor, you will be responsible for conducting tutoring sessions in person and through Zoom online, providing help with understanding course content, homework, review exams, and explaining concepts recently discussed in classes. You will work closely with the Tooele Student Success Coordinator to assess student needs and update practices throughout the semester. Your primary focus will be on supporting students taking general Algebra and Mathematics courses, including MATH 0950, 0995, 1050, 1051, 1210, 2010, and 2020, with potential for trigonometry, calculus, and related courses.
Responsibilities
* Conduct tutoring sessions in person and through Zoom online, providing individualized support to students
* Help students understand course content, homework, review exams, and explain concepts recently discussed in classes
* Work with the Tooele Student Success Coordinator to assess student needs and update practices throughout the semester
* Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
* Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless support
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions
* Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills and knowledge
Qualifications
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must be willing to attend training on online tutoring systems
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
* Ability to work with diverse populations
* Demonstrates personal integrity and a strong commitment to student success
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
* Proficient in College Algebra, including MATH 1050 or higher (or equivalent)
* Preference will be given to those who have successfully completed the following or their respective equivalents:
+ MATH 1050 (College Algebra)
+ MATH 1060 (Trigonometry)
+ MATH 1210 and/or 1220 (Calculus)
