About the Role
This part-time Lecturer position is a remote opportunity that requires teaching a graduate-level statistics course, Quantitative Analysis (Sociology 5183), via Zoom. The course is scheduled to be offered remotely, and the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality course materials, leading engaging lectures, and providing individualized support to students. As a Lecturer, you will be supervised by the Sociology department chair and will work closely with other faculty members to ensure the academic success of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a graduate-level statistics course, Quantitative Analysis (Sociology 5183), via Zoom
- Develop and deliver high-quality course materials, including syllabi, lectures, and assignments
- Lead engaging lectures and discussions, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Provide individualized support to students, including office hours and online support
- Assess student learning and provide feedback on assignments and exams
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental initiatives
- Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure the academic success of our students
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field
- At least one year of online, college teaching experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Understanding of Ethical Reasoning and Logic, Language and Scientific Reasoning
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience teaching statistics or research methods courses
- Experience with online course development and delivery
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Experience with assessment and evaluation of student learning

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
The hiring rate for this position has been established at $1,452 per credit hour (lower division), $1,597 per credit hour (upper division), or $1,755 per credit hour (graduate level). This part-time appointment is not eligible for group health, life insurance, retirement benefits, or overtime compensation. Benefits include:
