Work Outline

As a Pharmacy Technician with Walgreens, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing patient enrollment and information section tasks, including entering data into our pharmacy systems and handling patient medication requests within HIPAA guidelines.
  • Handling high-volume client requests, including answering phone calls, responding to messages, and resolving customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Investigating and resolving patient medication discrepancies, including deciphering clinical abbreviations (SIG codes) and communicating with patients and prescribers as needed.
  • Providing support to pharmacists, both in-store and remotely, to ensure seamless patient care and efficient operations.
  • Identifying and escalating issues to senior-level staff as necessary to ensure timely resolution and maintain high-quality patient care.

Essential Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a valid pharmacy technician certification or registration in the state of Texas
  • Have basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or call center environment
  • At least 1.5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician with a declaration or enrollment by state as recognized by the state Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification organization
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards for services and assessing customer satisfaction
  • Intermediate to advanced level keyboarding skills (at least 35 WPM, typing by memory, designing reports)
  • Familiarity with Spanish and English
