Finance Manager
The Learning Experience is a multi-unit Early Childhood Education Center with locations in NJ and PA seeking a Finance Manager. The Finance Manager will oversee the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and providing data-driven insights to support leadership.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
- Ensure proper categorization of expenses and income
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Coordinate with external accountants or tax professionals as needed
- Assist in the development of annual and monthly budgets
- Track actual spending against budget and identify variances
- Prepare rolling forecasts based on enrollment/revenue and expenses
- Flag budget risks or overages proactively
- Prepare monthly Profit and Loss statements
- Analyze revenue, expenses, and profitability trends
- Create financial summaries for leadership review
- Monitor financial performance by department or location
- Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and easy to understand
- Maintain internal financial controls and best practices
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Assist with audits, reviews, or financial requests
- Maintain organized financial documentation
- Identify and apply for grants to support team, FF&E and unit development
- Partner with operations, HR, and leadership on financial needs
- Provide financial data to support strategic decisions
- Respond to finance-related questions from Center Directors or internal stakeholders
- Recommend process improvements and efficiencies
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects/activities at a given time
- Comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis; ability to leverage and organize data to support decisions
- Operate with a sense of urgency, ability to work under tight and sometimes competing priorities
- Exposure to P&L statements and forecasting
- Bachelor's (Preferred)
- Finance: 1 year (Required)
