Summary

The Financial Data Analyst prepares and maintains financial reports via BI tools such Microsoft PowerBI, SQL SSMS, Tableau and Excel that serve as primary information sources for financial data analysis in support of Senior Leadership and the Finance organization. The Financial Data Analyst is responsible for identifying relevant insights and compiling analytical reports that enable other employees in the company to make sound decisions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Uses AI and BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and SQL to build the decision-making reports and models

Works with data analytic teams on building next generation of AI tools to assist management in performing financial performance impact analysis, financial models and reports, and variance analysis of actual and planned results.

Review journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure accurate reporting

Update and maintain detailed budget and forecast models to drive high quality decision making

Prepare and deliver monthly management reports

Manage, drive and continuously improve data collection processes for reporting and key metrics analysis

Advanced planning skills; must have the ability to manage tasks to successful timely conclusions

Supports the Finance team with other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

A strong working knowledge of AI tools and capabilities, PowerBI, Tableau and other BI visualization tools

Working towards or completed a 4 year degree involving a significant BI tools component, with proven quantitative experience 

1-3 years of work experience is a plus 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft PowerBI

Intermediate understanding of Tableau or other data visualization tools

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

Microsoft Visual Studio experience a plus 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Advanced attention to detail, keeping in mind the “big picture”

Ability to analyze and interpret data based on results

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to listen and understand information and ideas that are presented verbally

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment. May have occasional high stress when dealing with customers/clients. Some travel may be required.
