The client is a digital product, brand, and customer experience consultancy that helps leading companies design and build digital experiences, products, platforms, and growth initiatives. The company operates with a distributed workforce model and manages a large network of freelancers, contractors, and full-time employees across multiple disciplines.

Job Summary
The Forward Deployed Engineer will partner directly with Talent and Resourcing leadership to evaluate and optimize the organization's talent operations ecosystem. Working across tools such as Airtable, Lever, and other internal systems, this individual will identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate manual processes, and leverage AI-driven solutions to increase efficiency and decision-making. Acting as a consultant-builder, the FDE will work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges, define technical solutions, and lead initiatives from discovery through implementation.

Responsibilities
Partner with business stakeholders to understand existing workflows, pain points, and operational challenges

Evaluate current systems, processes, and integrations, identifying opportunities for automation and optimization

Design and implement AI-powered solutions that improve talent operations and decision-making

Build integrations between internal and third-party platforms using APIs and workflow automation tools

Define technical architectures, MVPs, and implementation roadmaps for new initiatives

Develop internal tools and operational platforms that streamline talent management processes

Prototype and deploy solutions involving LLMs, agents, recommendation systems, and workflow automation where appropriate

Own projects from discovery and requirements gathering through delivery and iteration

Provide technical guidance and recommendations on emerging AI technologies and automation opportunities

Qualifications and Job Requirements
5+ years of software engineering experience

Strong Python development experience

Experience integrating third-party systems via APIs

Experience building AI-enabled applications using LLMs

Experience leveraging AI/LLM technologies to solve business problems and improve operational workflows

Experience working directly with business stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions

Experience designing and building internal tools, workflow automation, or operational platforms

Strong communication and consulting skills

Ability to operate effectively in highly ambiguous environments

SQL and data modeling experience

Nice to Have
Experience leading technical discovery, requirements gathering, and solution design

Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or AWS Bedrock

Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI frameworks

Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search

Experience building recommendation engines or matching systems

Exposure to agentic AI workflows and autonomous agents

Integration experience with Airtable, Lever ATS, or similar platforms

Background in recruiting, talent management, or HR technology

Understanding of data pipelines

Ability to define MVPs and technical architectures
