Fractional HR & Compliance Manager

Hiring: Fractional HR & Compliance Lead (~3 Hours/Week • 100% Remote CA) ⚖️

House of Guineas LLC is growing, and we are looking for an independent HR expert to support our team's operations. If you are a California labor law specialist with a few extra hours a week for a steady, long-term client, this is a great fit.

The Setup:

Hours: Shared-fractional schedule, averaging 3 hours per week (with flexibility for occasional slight surges for onboarding or mediation).

Location: 100% Remote (Must reside in/be an expert in CA & San Francisco labor law).

Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor. You completely manage your own schedule and track your own hours.

What You’ll Handle:

Payroll & Finance: Full ownership of our Gusto pipeline and clean data syncing into Xero (including strict tax classification of employee reimbursements vs. stipends).

Compliance Gatekeeping: Protecting the corporate veil by keeping official LLC payroll completely separate from any private, personal arrangements.

Talent Acquisition: Prospecting, screening, and building seamless onboarding pipelines for seasonal exotic pet specialists and other roles as we scale.

Employee Relations: Serving as a neutral, supportive mediator and shaping clear company policies.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience as a B2B HR Consultant for California LLCs (PHR-CA is a huge plus).

Deep proficiency with Gusto and familiarity with Xero integrations.

A true operational partner who values high standards and compliant foundations.
