Job Purpose:

To complement the work of our charity team by supporting Luminary Women trainees and graduates to process their experiences of gender based violence and disadvantage, equipping them with the therapeutic tools they need to progress in their recovery from trauma and empowering them to move towards                               independence, employment and fulfill their potential.

We particularly welcome applications from Psychotherapists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists and those with specialist training in Trauma, including EMDR.

The successful applicant will have excellent clinical skills, including within written and verbal communication. A versatile and empathetic nature and the ability to work independently in sessions, accommodating the varied needs of our diverse client group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivering 16 weeks of trauma focused therapy to Luminary trainees and graduates. You’ll meet 3 women each week for 50 minute sessions online. 

Working collaboratively with Progression Support Workers to reduce any barriers women face to accessing therapy.

Following Luminary Women’s procedure of recognising, responding and reporting any safeguarding concerns that are raised during therapy. 

To have the capacity to work autonomously and within the BACP, UKCP or HCPC ethical frameworks. Maintaining professional codes of conduct at all times.

Attending induction sessions and quarterly check-ins with your Luminary Women Line Manager, as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Essential

Holder of a degree level professional qualification in counselling or therapy, with professional accreditation. 

To ensure that the counselling provided is delivered to a high standard, in accordance with BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice and under appropriate clinical supervision (Engaged in monthly supervision with a clinical supervisor, external to Luminary)

Minimum 3 years as a practicing therapist, with experience of delivering therapy in person and online

Proof of Public Liability Insurance 

Proof of eligibility to work in the UK

Fluency speaking, writing and delivering therapy in English

Ability to liaise effectively with key personnel and colleagues to contribute to the safe and productive day to day running of the counselling service

Experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to support survivors of gender-based violence across different cultures

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Engaged in monthly supervision with a clinical supervisor, external to Luminary

A commitment to working in line with Luminary’s values and faith ethos 

Desirable

Specialist training in EMDR and/or Gender Based Violence

Experience of delivering therapy to survivors of gender based violence and disadvantage within an organization supporting vulnerable adults

Experience of working with diverse cultural and geographical audiences
