AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm committed to delivering a better world. They are seeking an entry level Geologist to join their Remediation team in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where the role will support site investigation and remediation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Field activities consisting of air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater, and sediment sample collection and geological logging and interpretation
  • Task or project management and lead teams for field activities consisting of air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater, and sediment sample collection and geological logging and interpretation
  • Working with subcontractors to deliver services according to contract requirements while adhering to company and client safety standards
  • Assisting with gathering and analyzing geological and hydrogeological data in both the field and office settings
  • Assisting in preparation of written reports, work plans, remedial action plans, site investigation reports, site closures, site management plans, and technical memorandums; analysis of data; and development of supported conclusions
  • Assisting in preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations)
  • Performing independent hands-on fieldwork, oversee contractors (laboratory personnel, drillers, and surveyors), and other field personnel, and interacting with clients/client representatives
  • Utilizing basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
  • Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, and comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Assisting with landfill compliance monitoring, including reporting of groundwater and landfill gas remedial systems performance and monitoring data
  • Assisting in the preparation of Health and Safety Plans and identifying hazard recognition during field assignments
  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Skills

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Geological, Hydrogeological, Environmental Sciences or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required
  • Experience in the environmental remediation industry (private or public)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike
  • Flexible with working hours and locations; frequent travel within 1-2-hour drive of home office and occasionally further
  • Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks
  • Strong research and report writing (including web-based research)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong quality and time management
  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative
  • Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work
  • Proficient with basic computer programs; Microsoft Suite Programs
