Merit Ontario is a construction association supporting workforce needs across Ontario, and they are seeking a Geospatial Data Specialist for their member Terresky. This role involves field data collection and data processing using geospatial tools to create digital twins for construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Walk active construction sites or urban environments weekly to capture 360-degree hi-res video and imagery of 100% of the site
  • Operate and maintain high-tech hardware, including 360-degree cameras, terrestrial lidar scanners, or drones
  • Initiate data transfer at the end of each collection day to ensure raw files are ready for processing
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, wearing all required PPE (hard hat, vest, glasses, boots, etc.) on-site
  • Use ArcGIS Reality and ArcGIS GeoBIM to transform raw imagery and lidar point clouds into detailed 3D representations and digital twins
  • Integrate diverse datasets, including BIM (Building Information Modeling), GIS layers, and photogrammetry, into a central repository
  • Perform spatial and temporal analysis to forecast events, monitor changes over time, and identify patterns like "hot spots" for maintenance
  • Utilize AI and deep learning models to identify and sort objects within the visual data
  • Collaborate with Field Operations Managers to ensure processed models provide maximum contextual awareness for clients

Skills

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS software (Pro, Online, or GeoBIM) and an understanding of GIS technology
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural floor plans and blueprints
  • Strong communication skills are imperative for independent work
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions or project requirements
  • Must be comfortable walking for extended periods in active construction environments
