Job Overview/Summary: 

Marketing & Mobilization (M&M), a part of External Relations (ER) is a dynamic team, tasked with overseeing and creating communications and marketing, building the IRC’s global profile and brand, increasing private revenue from deeper donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences. In alignment with our Strategy100 commitments, M&M has launched ambitious multi-year campaigns that raise funding, profile and influence and will improve our share of voice and resonance in key geographies and globally. 

The Content and Creative team, a part of M&M, consists of award-winning creative specialists and idea partners, developing powerful communications and experiences to engage audiences and ultimately to deliver on ER ambitions and objectives. Our mission is to be a leading provider of brand creative and storytelling products about the IRC’s clients, staff and programs.   

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a skilled Graphic Designer to support our Impact at Scale work within the Creative Studio Design Team. This full-time role is focused on producing high-quality donor facing deliverables—primarily presentation decks, data visualizations, proposals and reports—that communicate the IRC’s humanitarian impact with clarity and precision.

The ideal candidate plays a pivotal role in securing support for the IRC’s most ambitious and impactful priorities. This individual brings the IRC’s Impact at Scale vision to life—translating complex program strategies into clear, compelling communications that motivate giving across Trusts & Foundations, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), Global New Business prospects, and Corporate partners. Working closely with the Strategy Unit, program teams, and External Relations colleagues, the Designer develops high quality proposals, reports, and pitch materials that show donors the meaningful impact their investment can make. 

This designer thrives in a fast-paced creative environment, brings exceptional expertise and a sharp eye for typographic systems and layout hierarchy, and can translate complex data and narratives into polished, compelling visual documents. Must be experienced in the Adobe Creative Studio systems including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Figma and Figma Slides knowledge are a bonus but not required. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Presentations & Decks

Design and produce executive-ready presentation decks (PowerPoint and/or Google Slides) aligned with IRC brand guidelines

Develop scalable deck templates and systems that are easily reused and adapted across teams

Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify goals, audience needs, and key messages; refine content structure for clarity, pacing, and emphasis

Translate complex data, technical concepts, and program results into logical, digestible visual flows that guide understanding

Reports & Long-Form Documents

Design and lay out high-quality impact reports, funding propositions, and donor collateral in Adobe InDesign

Build and maintain paragraph and character styles, master pages, and grid systems to ensure typographic consistency and layout integrity

Apply meticulous attention to type hierarchy, spacing, and detail across multi-page documents

Produce print-ready and digital PDF outputs optimized for various distribution contexts

Data Visualization & Infographics

Transform raw data and statistics into clear, meaningful charts, diagrams, and infographics

Design visuals that communicate impact metrics at a glance for high-value donor audiences

Work within established brand frameworks while bringing a strong visual sensibility to each piece

Collaboration & Brand Stewardship

Partner with the Creative Studio team and front-line fundraisers on bespoke HV donor projects

Maintain strict brand consistency across all deliverables and seek approval through the Creative Studio as appropriate

Manage multiple concurrent projects with tight turnarounds while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail

 

Essential Qualifications:

4–5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating print and digital publication work

Expert-level proficiency in Adobe InDesign, including master pages, paragraph/character styles, and grid-based layout systems

Strong command of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Demonstrated experience designing presentation decks in PowerPoint and/or Google Slides. Figma Slides knowledge is a preference but not required.

Exceptional typographic skills and a meticulous eye for layout hierarchy, spacing, and detail

Experience creating data visualizations and infographics that communicate complex information clearly

Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Passion for the IRC’s mission and commitment to humanitarian work

Presentation Narrative & Content Strategy: ability to collaborate with stakeholders, identify key messages, and structure content for clarity and impact

Typographic Excellence: deep understanding of type hierarchy, grid systems, and design consistency across long-form documents

Data Visualization: skill in transforming quantitative information into intuitive visual formats for non-specialist audiences

Attention to Detail: unwavering precision in design execution, file management, and brand application

Communication: clear, concise communicator capable of working across teams and managing feedback constructively

Time Management: proven ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality work across multiple concurrent projects

 

Desired Qualifications:

Experience working in the nonprofit, humanitarian, or fundraising sector

Familiarity with IRC’s brand guidelines and design system

Experience with Figma or other UI/UX tools

 

Working Environment: 

This role may require working remotely full- or part-time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.

 

Compensation: (Pay Range:  $73,000 - $85,000) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
