Job Description
Job Title: GRC Engineer
Department & Team: Product Security
Reports to: Alex Collins
Location: Hungary (Flexible)

Summary:
We have an open position within Genesys Cloud Product Security, seeking a candidate with security & compliance expertise, technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple compliance-related tasks.

Genesys is changing how businesses communicate with their customers using a micro-service architecture, based primarily on Java and Python, and hosted in AWS. It is the function of our team to keep our customer, company and employee data safe, and to manage Genesys Cloud's GRC program with forward-thinking technical solutions and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
Security Assessments & Control Validation

Support technical security assessments across applications, cloud services, third-party integrations, and internal systems

Performance of information security audits, testing and evaluation of system security configurations to ensure efficacy and compliance with policies and procedures

Assess control effectiveness against frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and internal policies

Develop and maintain detailed documentation and risk mitigation plans

Validate and enhance security controls across cloud environments

Technical Architecture Governance

Participate in reviews of product, application, and cloud infrastructure architectures for security control gaps, misconfigurations, and design risks

Evaluate engineering design documents, data flow diagrams, and deployment patterns to ensure alignment with security best practices (e.g., zero trust, least privilege, secure SDLC)

Provide actionable recommendations to engineering teams to address identified risks

Participate in security design reviews for new and evolving technologies

Audit Support & Compliance

Performance of technical walkthroughs with external auditors, for in-scope controls and domains, giving detailed demonstrations and explanations of how we protect data within our environment

Collaborate with internal audit and external auditors to provide evidence and narrative explanations for control effectiveness

Presentation of evidence during audit fieldwork

Policy, Standards & Compliance Engineering

Contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies, technical standards, and architecture principles

Translate compliance requirements into technical control specifications

Support engineering teams in interpreting and implementing controls correctly

Assist in the development and execution of operational policies and appropriate standards

GRC Program Management

Regular communication with all Genesys business units, aiding Product Security to drive GRC activities

Maintaining common control and evidence inventories

Performing gap assessments

Remediation of findings and risks alongside other internal stakeholders

Assist in the creation of team documentation and streamlining of internal processes

Support colleagues with day-to-day GRC program management tasks, as required

Security Program Enablement

Serve as a technical advisor to product and infrastructure teams during design, build, and release cycles

Improve risk assessment methodologies and tooling, including automation where possible

Provide GRC insights into threat modeling, vendor security reviews, and third-party due diligence

Support continuous improvement initiatives across GRC processes

Assist with the implementation of security solutions related to the protection of data within the cloud

Minimum Requirements:

2+ years of relevant professional experience in GRC, security engineering, architecture review, or related technical security roles

Familiarity with AWS and cloud security controls

Understanding of security concepts related to SaaS solutions

Exposure to audit support processes

Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS)

Ability to support technical risk assessments

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, IAM, network security, or logging pipelines

Excellent English communication skills and ability to translate technical risks to business stakeholders

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

Experience using Git

Deep understanding of multiple security frameworks such as ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, SOC 2, PCI DSS

Experience with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, EUSC, UK Cyber or UK Cyber Essentials Plus, ENS or HDS frameworks

Hands-on experience reviewing architecture diagrams, data flows, and engineering design patterns

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure) beyond AWS

Cloud architecture review experience

Coding and scripting capabilities using Python and PowerShell

AI/ML architecture and governance experience

API integration and orchestration experience

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, IAM, network security, and monitoring pipelines

Certifications such as CISM, CRISC, CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, or similar

Experience with threat modeling methodologies

Familiarity with security-as-code and risk automation tooling

Previous work in a high-scale SaaS or regulated environment

Leadership experience in GRC projects or initiatives

Eagerness to learn and grow in the role
