State Compensation Insurance Fund is California’s largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance, established in 1914. They are seeking an Information Technology Specialist I to provide expertise in security testing, perform QA testing, and improve testing processes while collaborating with management and security teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in all technical aspects of security testing and understand the manual testing scope
  • Perform functional and non-functional QA testing
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies based on project needs and industry trends
  • Write and document test scripts
  • Provide test estimates for proposed projects
  • Constantly look for opportunities to improve testing processes
  • Establish and document testing standards, scenarios, cases and data
  • Encourage innovation of process and creative testing methodologies
  • Work closely with management to determine feasibility of product features
  • Work with the QA testing and information security teams to ensure the effectiveness of application security controls
  • Filing defects accurately with detailed information that aids in defect resolution
  • Responsible for assuring that output from the software development process includes adequate identification and interpretation of product requirements, such as a) traceability requirements, b) test requirements, c) usability requirements, etc
  • Promote high quality, scalability and timely completion of testing timelines
  • Provide management with status of testing activities
  • Mentor and provide knowledge transfer to QA team members

  • Must reside in California upon appointment
  • Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund
  • To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 application, resume, and/or statement of qualifications if required
  • Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held

  • Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)

  • Resume is required and must be included
  • 10+ years of experience working as a Functional, Data or Business Analyst
  • 5+ years experience in MS Word, Excel(Advanced), Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project and Quality Center
  • 7+ years of customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation
  • Work with business and IT to ensure accurate business requirements captured
  • Work closely with project manager to clearly define requirements scope and manage change requests
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working in a flexible Agile development environment
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry is a plus
