About the Project:

This is a critical hiring initiative tied to the Discover / Capital One merger, supporting the expansion of Capital One s Card Portfolio Technology Group. The group manages large-scale backend and full stack applications across 50+ product teams, enabling services for 60M+ cardholders.

We're assembling a specialized team of 14 highly skilled Java engineers with prior Capital One experience to support various product journeys such as:

Portfolio Enablement: Aggregated Account Data Retrieval

Card Disputes: Dispute Initiation & Resolution

Strategic Partnerships: Partner Provisioning

Setup & Manage My Account: Authorized Users / Card Registration

Card Lifecycle Management: Customer Profile & Lifecycle Services

Who We're Looking For:

We are seeking former Capital One contractors with strong Java and cloud engineering backgrounds who understand enterprise-scale systems, microservices architecture, and financial services environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend and full stack applications

Build RESTful APIs using Java (Spring Boot)

Develop intuitive frontend components using React (for full stack roles)

Deploy applications on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) on AWS

Collaborate with cross-functional product teams across time zones

Monitor and optimize application performance in a high-volume environment

Contribute to secure and scalable architecture decisions

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of professional Java development experience

Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot

2+ years of React experience for full stack roles

Experience deploying applications on WebSphere and OpenShift (OCP)

AWS cloud experience is a must

Prior contract experience with Capital One is required

Strong understanding of enterprise-scale, high-availability platforms

Knowledge of financial services or credit card systems is highly preferred

Nice to Have:

Experience with Capital One s internal systems, APIs, CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with domain areas like card disputes, account registration, or partner provisioning

Team Structure:

Each contractor will join a product team consisting of:

6 8 Engineers

1 Product Owner

1 Agile Delivery Lead
