WTW is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join their H&B Canada Operations team. The role involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing data sources, including pipelines and data products, while supporting multiple stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain batch and/or real-time data pipelines
  • Maintain and optimize data infrastructure for accurate extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of data assets from various sources
  • Develop ETL processes to help extract and manipulate data from multiple sources
  • Automate data workflows such as data ingestion, aggregation and ETL processing
  • Prepare raw data into a consumable dataset for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Build, maintain and deploy data products for analytics and data science teams on Azure Cloud
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, privacy, security and compliance through quality control measures
  • Monitor data systems performance and implement optimization strategies
  • Leverage data controls to maintain data privacy, security, compliance and quality for all data products
  • Collaborate with global colleagues to ensure data availability and integrity
  • Ensure that every data product is scalable, repeatable and governed

Skills

  • University or college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field of study
  • Proficiency in a modern data technology stack (e.g. Azure: Synapse, Fabric, ADF AWS: Redshift, Glue, Athena, etc.)
  • Strong understanding in Apache Spark or other big data frameworks; distributed computing experience a plus
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases and database design
  • Intermediate to Advanced level in Python; working knowledge within PySpark a plus
  • Strong proficiency in data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g. Airflow, ADF)
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data modeling
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team
  • Experience in data ingestion tools such as Matillion, FiveTran, Airbyte, etc. a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (e.g. Power BI, Power Automate, etc.)
