Job Title: Mainframe Z/VSE Systems Technician

Location: Remote (Must be based in the United States)
Duration: Multi-year contract

Overview
SMX is seeking a Mainframe Z/VSE Systems Technician to support enterprise IBM mainframe environments. This is a long-term, remote opportunity; however, candidates must perform work from within U.S. territory.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with IBM Z/VM and Z/VSE systems and be comfortable working in English, as this role involves direct collaboration with IBM teams.

Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and implement IBM Mainframe Z/VM and Z/VSE operating systems and ISV software
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in mainframe environments
• Perform periodic operating system and hardware maintenance
• Manage and support disaster recovery procedures and capacity planning
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure system reliability and performance

Required Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with Z/VM and Z/VSE operating systems
• Knowledge of IBM utilities (e.g., IDCAMS, Ditto)
• Strong problem-solving skills with emphasis on root cause analysis
• Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional technical teams
• Experience with technical documentation and process management
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work from within the United States

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Z/OS or Z/Linux environments
• Previous experience working with IBM teams or enterprise mainframe systems
