Job Summary

The Managed Services Engineer – Azure Storage is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise file storage solutions in Microsoft Azure, with a primary focus on Qumulo file storage and native Azure Storage services.

This role partners closely with customers and internal teams to ensure storage platforms are secure, performant, scalable, and cost‑effective. The ideal candidate brings strong Azure storage expertise, operational discipline, and a customer‑first mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and automation.

This is a fully remote role requiring a dedicated, distraction‑free home office and active participation in video meetings. Occasional travel may be required.

Role Description

Design, deploy, and support Qumulo file storage clusters in Microsoft Azure

Administer Azure Storage services, including Azure Files, Blob Storage, and Managed Disks

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve storage performance, capacity, and availability issues

Optimize storage environments for performance, resiliency, security, and cost efficiency

Lead and contribute to managed services projects and service improvement initiatives

Engage directly with customers through meetings, incidents, change requests, and project delivery

Develop, maintain, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for storage operations

Implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics

Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives for repeatable deployments

Track time and document work accurately in SHI systems

Participate in audits, compliance activities, and a rotating on‑call schedule

Escalate complex issues and collaborate with senior engineers and architects when needed

Provide support and guidance to lower‑tier engineers as needed

    Skill Level Requirements

    Qumulo file storage deployed in Azure

    Azure Files, Blob Storage, Managed Disks

    Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Backup

    Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or ARM/Bicep

    Automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, and/or Azure CLI

    Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, SMB/NFS permissions and access control

    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

    Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and customer focus

    Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset

    Adaptability and commitment to continuous learning

    Ability to work effectively in a remote, camera‑on environment


    Other Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience

    3–5 years of experience in a managed services or Azure‑focused engineering role

    Hands‑on experience supporting production Azure storage environments

    Experience using version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps)

    Up to 10% travel annually

    Ability to work occasional overtime or holidays as business needs require

    Participation in a rotating on‑call schedule

    Must maintain utilization targets set by leadership

    Must successfully pass a CJIS background check upon hire and annually thereafter

    Certifications

    • Microsoft Azure Associate‑level certification (AZ‑104 or equivalent), or ability to obtain within 3 months

      ITIL v3+ certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months

      Preferred Requirements

      Experience supporting large‑scale or performance‑sensitive file workloads

      Familiarity with IT Glue, Autotask, Datto RMM, and documentation tools

      Experience with monitoring, alerting, and automation practices

      Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., CJIS, FERPA)

      The estimated annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $155,000 which includes a base salary and bonus/commissions. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
