About the Role
Jitsu is hiring a Manager, Carrier Operations and Capacity Procurement to own and scale transportation capacity across our First and Middle Mile network. This is not a maintenance role. We need a builder.

You will be responsible for securing, optimizing, and strategically developing carrier capacity to support network expansion, fluctuating volumes, and aggressive client growth targets. If you thrive in freight market volatility, understand carrier economics, and can build dense, competitive lane networks — this role is for you. What You Will Own
Develop and execute the capacity procurement strategy across First and Middle Mile operations
Build and maintain a dense, competitive carrier network across all priority lanes
Lead carrier RFP events end-to-end — design, bid analysis, award decisions, and onboarding
Forecast future capacity needs based on volume projections and proactively secure dedicated capacity ahead of demand
Negotiate carrier contracts with focus on rate structure, fuel surcharge mechanism, accessorials, volume commitments, service guarantees, and termination terms
Develop and maintain strategic carrier relationships at the senior level; serve as the primary carrier-facing point of contact
Own carrier performance metrics covering cost, commitment, visibility, and reliability
Source, onboard, and ensure ongoing compliance for all carriers in coordination with risk and compliance teams
Ensure carriers meet safety and regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA)
Lead digital visibility adoption across the carrier base — API integrations, ELD connectivity, and driver app tooling
Partner with Sales and Account Management to provide accurate carrier capacity liquidity intelligence
Communicate freight market conditions to internal stakeholders to inform pricing, commitments, and client conversations
Identify and resolve capacity-related operational issues and bottlenecks
Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through negotiation, lane consolidation, and capacity mix optimization
What You Bring
5+ years of transportation procurement or carrier management experience
Strong understanding of first and middle mile linehaul operations
Proven success negotiating carrier contracts in dynamic freight markets
Experience forecasting capacity needs and managing seasonal volatility
Deep familiarity with transportation management systems and carrier compliance platforms
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
Ability to translate freight market conditions into commercial strategy
Strong relationship-building skills with carriers and cross-functional teams
