About the Job

 

As the Manager of Underwriting at Splitero, you will lead and support a team responsible for producing accurate, timely, and high-quality underwriting decisions in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be hands-on with coaching and performance management while also helping shape how the team operates through clearer processes, better consistency, and ongoing improvements. This role partners closely with Processing and People Ops to keep work flowing smoothly and ensure alignment across teams. You’ll be accountable for driving quality, developing your team, and making sure underwriting standards are consistently met while supporting broader business goals.

Partner with People Ops to source, screen, interview, and present offers to qualified candidates; lead hiring for your team and contribute to onboarding decisions

Oversee performance management for team members; complete thoughtful performance reviews, deliver direct and documented feedback, sustain coaching plans through to resolution, and respond to performance support needs

Cultivate and maintain a positive team culture; plan proactive employee engagement initiatives and solve conflict interfering with the work environment

Train and onboard all new hires, ensuring new teammates ramp efficiently

Lead projects related to their team; thoroughly scope, creates timelines and resource needs, organize meetings, delegate tasks, collaborate cross-functionally, and provide upward and downward communication related to project goals, updates, and roadblocks

Manage the pipeline and workload for all team members, ensuring high performance across all team members

Own development, implementation, and changes to policies and procedures

Connect company-wide goals with department-level action items on a quarterly basis and steering department and individual contributor goals

Analyze data related to their area, produce valuable insights, and present to leadership

Act as the main point of contact for escalations and team member questions

Manage and coach to underwriting quality KPIs, using performance data to identify patterns, drive accountability, and create teachable moments

Serve as the primary cross-functional liaison between Underwriting and Processing, identifying and addressing friction points that affect pipeline health and team consistency

 

The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

About You

4+ years of experience in underwriting residential loans

Experience leading a high-performing team

Proven history of successfully managing projects from ideation to execution

Ability to write effective policies and procedures

Ability to evaluate risk-based decisions made by your team, identify patterns in judgment or conditioning that need correction, and hold a consistent quality standard across all underwriters

Experience navigating cross-functional team dynamics and building consistency across adjacent teams

Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to have constructive conversations, set and meet deadlines, proactively communicate challenges and changes within your department, and relay information to all levels of management on a regular cadence 

Ability to make data-driven decisions 

Experience working with HEIs is preferred
