About the position
The Managing Editorial Assistant at Penguin Workshop plays a crucial role in supporting the Managing Editorial staff by providing administrative assistance and ensuring the smooth operation of the editorial process. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about children's literature and eager to learn about the bookmaking process in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support to the Managing Editorial department, including setting up meetings and maintaining calendars. ,
- Set up and maintain title metadata and schedules in SAP and FileMaker Pro. ,
- Approve covers for distribution and disseminate information regarding production schedules, on-sale dates, and prices. ,
- Coordinate reprint corrections and ensure accuracy in production. ,
- Create barcodes and review eBooks for formatting, content accuracy, and overall quality. ,
- Review contract status and royalty rates, and download files for various divisional needs. ,
- Attend weekly production meetings with Editorial, Copyediting, Design, and Production departments.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across various departments. ,
- Superb organizational and time management skills. ,
- Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. ,
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. ,
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
