Position Summary

The Medical Record Coordinator provides administrative support to all clinical initiatives delivered by the Health and Quality division. This role is responsible for the overall maintenance of medical records: sending out request for medical records, confirming incoming medical records are complete and compliant, following up on outstanding requests, ensuring records are labeled correctly and routed to the proper department, etc. This role will also provide support to the health coordinators and health nurses on initiatives related to medical record requests, follow-ups, and responses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Intake and process all medical records received via fax for the Case Management and Quality Departments
• Review received medical records for compliance with HEDIS measures
• Research systems, such as CRISP, for documentation of proof of services
• Review various Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and download relevant medical records
• Fax/mail medical record requests to provider practices
• Outreach to provider offices and hospitals to follow-up on medical record requests
• Data enter member demographic information, date of services, and proof of services into a database
• Deliver administrative support to various department(s).
• Perform any other job-related instructions, as requested.

Education, Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least two years of supporting a clinical function within a health plan or healthcare setting required
• Medical record handling and electronic health record (EHR) experience preferred
• HEDIS experience preferred
• A working knowledge of Medicare program requirements preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent communication skills, including writing, critical-thinking, and the ability to work with others in a collaborative fashion.
• Data entry skills and data entry auditing/review
• Working knowledge of health insurance and activities supporting members.

Computer Skills
• Outstanding computer skills (demonstrated use of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and latest web-browsers) and overall computer use literacy.
