Network Engineer
Job Description
The Network Engineer IV, under direction, provides technical leadership and oversight for deployment and delivery of enterprise-wide network engineering projects or services. Participates in mentoring, training, and development of other employees. Responsible for upgrading/installing a new, highly secure network implementing Zero Trust and CMMC level requirements. Responsible for pivotal role in the design/integration/implementation of a secure network with micro-segmentation and authentication processes using Cisco ISE, DNAC, and Cisco Firepower security appliances.
Location: San Antonio Texas - On-Site
Schedule: M-F 8AM - 5PM (40 hours weekly)
Responsibilities:
Oversees the design activities for enterprise-level network projects. Approves network design plans.
Approves and tests methods and plans used to certify complex networking projects to required installation design standards.
Establishes protocols and processes for problem management and support. Continuously monitors effectiveness of established processes and protocols.
Defines the standards for the development of plans for new networks or upgrades.
Oversees input from clients, system administrators, contractors, and vendors to develop specifications and plans for enterprise-wide networks.
Establishes the standards and procedures used to document network engineering designs, and plans and maps methods, procedures, problems, and repairs.
Helps establish procedures and standards for the implementation of new technology solutions, including new integration testing.
Helps establish procedures for compliance with enterprise and state network security policies.
Oversees the enterprise processes for the evaluation of new technologies.
Makes recommendations and presentations to executive leadership.
Works with various project leaders and executive staff to develop work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements.
Documents problems and repairs.
Evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability with regard to clients needs.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of related experience in network engineering, routing and switching, wireless projects, network protocols, encryption, topologies, overall system integration/convergence, and/or video and data convergence, integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, and multi-tasking operating system environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of IT architecture, application of systems theory, advanced negotiation skills, enterprise-level operations, multi-team leadership and coordination, advanced project management, advanced vendor relations, advanced business acumen, and change management.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
