Compensation: $24.47 - $34.28 per hour, based on relevant experience

This is an On-Call, remote, position with opportunity to transition full-time.

Candidates must be located within the contiguous United States. Ideal candidates will be located in California, Oregon, or Washington.

JOB SUMMARY: The Cultural GIS Specialist II will support a variety of cartographic needs for large and small projects including (but not limited to) utility, transportation, telecommunications, and energy infrastructure projects. They will generate and incorporate geospatial information into cartographic components for environmental review reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
Uses geospatial software to create templated static reference maps for local, state, and federal level environmental reports

Processes, interprets, and maintains geospatial vector data from an assortment of file formats

Proficiently applies a variety of geoprocessing and data query techniques to execute deliverables

Updates and maintains ArcGIS online maps

Processes pre- and post-field archaeological data leading to the creation of primary site record sketches and location maps

Produces consistent and accurate high-volume products to meet fast-paced deadlines

Complies with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Maintains knowledge of and adheres to company established GIS procedures and data structures

Maintains regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

Actively upholds the culture of company core values and employee ownership

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS Degree or Technical Certificate in GIS and 4+ years of GIS work experience

Experience with Esri Enterprise and geospatial software/applications such as ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, Field Maps, Survey 123, etc.

Deep understanding of standard cartographic and database management principles

Proficient in a wide array of geoprocessing tools and techniques

Capable of effectively managing files for complex projects with and without enterprise-level tools

Ability to perform work duties remotely and efficiently

Capable of independently troubleshooting problems and researching solutions with moderate supervision from senior staff

Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical

Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with environmental consulting, compliance review, and/or adjacent fields such as land planning, biology, hydrology, etc.

Familiarity with utility operations, maintenance, and/or construction datasets

An educational or vocational background in archaeology equivalent to 2+ years of experience

Experience in reading and extracting pertinence from CDPR 523 (or similar) site records and cultural survey reports

Experience with NEPA, FERC, NHPA, ESA, and/or other state or federal environmental programs

Exposure to working with GIS data within Google Earth Pro

Basic understanding of programming languages such as Arcade, Python, or equivalent

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating system

Demonstrates excellence in listening, questioning, and patience

Effective communication skills (e.g. writing, email, telephone, etc.)

Highly organized, motivated, dependable, and trustworthy
