PATH's Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) and Epidemic Preparedness and Response (EPR) program is a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, strengthens infectious disease surveillance systems, supports integration across sectors and disease verticals, and assists countries in addressing emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.  

As part of our growing portfolio, we are building a roster of experienced consultants with technical depth in infectious disease surveillance.

Scope of Work

Selected consultants will be engaged on a project-by-project basis and may support a range of activities, including:
Strategic planning for infectious disease surveillance systems

Landscape analysis of surveillance systems and health information architecture

Designing or optimizing indicator- and event-based surveillance, outbreak detection, or response systems

Supporting governments to integrate AI or advanced analytics into health system decision-making

Developing technical reports, presentations, and operational frameworks

Capacity building and workshop facilitation in English and/or French-speaking settings

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who meet all of the following core requirements:

Core Requirements
Demonstrated experience in infectious disease surveillance systems

Fluency in English

Strong client-facing communication and facilitation skills

Ability to work independently in dynamic, multicultural environments

Desirable

Masters-level or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field

Professional proficiency in French

Experience working with or advising Ministries of Health

Prior work with international donors such as Global Fund, Gates Foundation, USAID, WHO, or KfW

Knowledge of digital health tools (e.g., DHIS2, malaria dashboards, AI-supported surveillance platforms)

Experience living or working in/with Francophone countries
