We are launching Principal Illness Navigation - Peer Support services for members with serious behavioral health and substance use conditions.
We are seeking part-time contract psychiatrists to perform initiating visits, supervise peer support services, and support a compliant, high-quality care model. Role Overview
Accountable is hiring part-time, remote psychiatrists as 1099 independent contractors. Candidates may be licensed in one or more of the following states:
Texas
North Carolina
Florida
Tennessee
Candidates may be licensed in one state or multiple states.
Multi-state licensure is preferred but not required. This is a flexible contract role focused on clinical initiation, medical necessity documentation, care plan oversight, supervision of peer support services, and clinical escalation when needed. This is not a traditional high-volume medication management position.
The psychiatrist will serve as the initiating and supervising practitioner for assigned members in the state or states where they are licensed and credentialed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform telehealth initiating visits for eligible members
Assess and document serious high-risk behavioral health or substance use conditions
Determine clinical appropriateness and medical necessity for Principal Illness Navigation - Peer Support services
Create, approve, or update member-specific care/navigation plans
Supervise peer support and care navigation services delivered by Accountable team members
Review documentation to support quality, compliance, and medical necessity
Be available for clinical consultation and escalation when needed
Participate in case reviews, audits, protocol development, payer meetings, or quality improvement work as requested
Collaborate with Accountable’s operations, compliance, billing, and peer support teams
Maintain timely, accurate, payer-appropriate documentation
Support a compassionate, recovery-oriented, human-centered care model
Required Qualifications
MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry
Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one of the following states: TX, NC, FL, or TN
Ability to provide telehealth services to members in the state or states where licensed
Medicare enrollment eligibility, with no sanctions, exclusions, or restrictions
Experience treating substance use disorders, serious mental illness, or co-occurring behavioral health conditions
Comfort working with peer support specialists, recovery coaches, care navigators, or similar team members
Strong documentation and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote, team-based care model
Commitment to ethical, compliant, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
Active licenses in multiple target states
Addiction psychiatry or addiction medicine experience
Experience with Medicare, care management, behavioral health integration, or peer support programs
Experience supervising interdisciplinary behavioral health teams
Familiarity with telehealth, payer-facing clinical programs, or value-based care
Experience working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders
Interest in helping build and refine a scalable clinical program
Compensation
This is a 1099 independent contractor role with a guaranteed minimum monthly retainer. Compensation includes:
$1,000 minimum monthly retainer
$125 per completed initiating visit
$10 per active member per month for supervision and chart review
$250 per hour for escalation calls, protocol work, audits, payer meetings, or case reviews
The monthly retainer is intended to compensate for baseline availability, administrative coordination, and participation in the program. Additional compensation is based on completed visits, active supervised members, and hourly clinical or administrative work as needed.
Time Commitment
This is a flexible, part-time 1099 contract role. The time commitment will depend on member volume in the psychiatrist’s licensed state or states. Expected responsibilities may include:
Brief telehealth initiating visits
Ongoing chart review and supervision
Clinical escalation availability
Periodic case review or quality meetings
Documentation and protocol support as needed
