Part-Time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Autonomous Practice)

Remote – Virginia Licensed

 License Required: Active Virginia PMHNP license (Multi-state or compact preferred)- Must be able to practice independent without MD Collaboration
 Compensation: Competitive fee-for-service per session pay

Your Role at Backpack Healthcare

As a part-time PMHNP, you will:

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations via telehealth

    Formulate accurate, evidence-based diagnoses



Treatment Planning & Medication Management



  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families

    Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications

    Monitor effectiveness and adjust treatment as needed

    Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation



Integrated Care Collaboration



  • Partner with therapists and care teams to ensure coordinated treatment

    Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations



Documentation & Compliance



  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EHR

    Uphold all ethical and professional standards





✅ What We’re Looking For



  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program

    Active, unrestricted Virginia PMHNP license & DEA

    Board Certification (PMHNP-BC)

    Experience with or passion for working with youth and families

    Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

    Comfort practicing in a telehealth environment
